U 23 Team Initiative
2010 OBJECTIVES:
The WSF has completely revamped this program and is now working closely with USACK to implement the program that works in parallel with domestic and international race schedules and coaching objectives. The following elements are being put in place for the 2010 season:
1. The WSF has worked with USACK to help put into place a selection criteria for the U‐23 team. This team will be an official USACK team making this the first program to be passed off to USACK.
2. WSF is in the process of working on uniforms. We anticipate 4‐6 athletes to be on the team.
3. Training Camp: The U.S. Team Coach (Silvan Poberaj) is communicating with the Canadians about the possibility of a National Team training camp in Minden the week prior to the Canadian Nationals (August 1). The WSF could fund a U‐23 camp concurrently, with National Team athletes coaching the U‐23’s in between their workouts. The WSF should also explore the possibility of lower level athletes and coaches helping out with the camp.
4. North American U‐23 Championships: to be held at Dickerson along with the U.S. Nationals, September 26th.
The WSF is excited to announce that the U‐23 team will be a member of the U.S. Team alongside our Junior and Senior teams. It is our hope that the U‐23 program will be passed off to USACK in its entirely and the selection criteria and uniforms for the U‐23 team will become a USACK domain, with aid provided as needed by the WSF.
